One of the core components of weld tracking system is sensor, which is also the product provided by Ruiniu.
The welding seam tracking sensor can be divided into arc welding seam tracking, contact welding seam tracking and non-contact welding seam tracking according to the different sensing modes.
The arc tracking principle is to collect the average current within a certain period of time after the welding arc starts as the reference current value or set the reference current in advance. When the workpiece is far from the welding torch, the current value gradually decreases. The robot's path is compensated so that the welding torch is closer to the machining workpiece. On the contrary, when the workpiece is close to the welding torch, the compensation makes the welding torch away from the machining workpiece. Arc tracking has no error in front of the sensor and is not afraid of arc spatter and interference of light. It can be used for high, low and left side automatic tracking. However, as it can only track the thick plate of more than 3mm, it must swing arc during tracking, so the use conditions are limited.

The contact sensor generally USES a guide rod or guide wheel to contact the side wall of the weld or workpiece in front of the welding gun, and converts the change of weld position into an electrical signal through photoelectric, sliding rheostat, force sense, etc., for the control system to track the weld. Its features are free from arc interference, reliable operation and low cost. It has been widely used in production, but the tracking accuracy is not high. At present, it is being replaced by other sensing methods.

There are many kinds of non-contact sensors, among which the automatic welding seam tracking system based on vision sensor technology and artificial intelligence control technology is particularly attractive. In the welding seam tracking process, the visual sensor can not only get information about the welding seam, but also observe the weld pool.
