In order to ensure the welding quality, reduce the influence of human factors on it and shorten the production cycle, it is necessary to improve the automation and intelligence level of welding equipment, and the automatic tracking system of welding seam is an important part of it.

The typical real-time tracking system for welding seams consists of high-precision position sensing, control algorithms and actuators.

In the weld tracking system, the work of laser tracking sensor ensures the correct weld location tracking. The sensor fires a laser to the surface of the workpiece, which is captured by the camera lens after reflection, and the system processes the signal to obtain the weld information.

The laser sensor takes a photo sampling of the welding seam, obtains the position and characteristics of the welding seam and other information through image processing, and obtains deviation data after image processing. The deviation information is converted into the control quantity after calculation and sent to the control system of the machine tool in the form of digital signal. The numerical control system obtains the adjustment quantity after D/A conversion of the control quantity, and finally achieves the effect of dynamic compensation by driving the servo motor.

The laser sensor obtains the weld position by identifying structural breakpoints at the joints. Under the control of laser weld tracking system, the FSW head can follow the weld well and obtain satisfactory FSW head.
